Words
I fancy myself a writer, a wordsmith, a poet, a critic. I enjoy creating something from nothing – evoking images, feelings, sentiment, emotion. Promoting causes and changing minds. I am also quite adept at debating with conviction to the point of annihilating an opposing stance, or winning hearts and mind with rock-solid arguments.
As a wordsmith, I can make anything sound, read and ‘feel’ better with some fancy twisting of phrases and finding the perfect word to relay an exact idea.
I understand the incredible power of the written word and I take great pride in my ability to manipulate language in ways that most can not. Boastful? Sure. Why not? I’ve experienced enough inarticulate ramblings to realize that the average American is essentially a functional illiterate. Sad, but true. If that refers to you, then you can blame your parents, the education system or your lack of interest in the sublime nuances that can’t be found while watching sitcoms.
This is where I come in to work my magic. You give me an idea, a concept, a plan, a vision – and I will put it into words that flow like a babbling brook tickling sun-soaked, daisy-lined banks.
Maybe it’s my disdain for nonsense or my defense of what was once a rich and vibrant common communication system that has been reduced to ‘text’-ulized shortcuts that lack true intent or honest emotion. When I hear a person say the word “lol,” my stomach turns and a little piece of humanity dies.
The bulk of my work has been critical by nature, though I have used my beautiful words to create some awful, weird and, frankly, disturbing scenarios to promote ‘mature’ subject matter. I have the ability to write on any topic, adopt a distinct voice and run with it.
As much as I love reviewing music, bands, shows, etc., it can be difficult for me to censor myself – especially when I am charged with an honest, fair review.
I usually don’t like bad music, therefore a lot of the reviews I write are ‘bad.’ A couple of them didn’t even get published because of my undeniable disdain for mediocrity and/or nonsense. Eventhough I do believe that all Art is good art, I do have an opinion, tastes, and a threshold for pain and I have found myself observing, experiencing art that crosses the line from ‘creative’ to ‘painful.’
When I do like something, I tend to gush a bit too much – which may or may not be appealing. I get gooey and moisty for art that moves me. I’m like a goofy, crying girl who’s jizzing her panties over Paul at the airport.
I’ve also written adult site reviews. That’s always fun…until you have to review a site that isn’t quite your cup of tea. Then it gets kinda weird. It’s difficult to objectively analyze a site when it makes you nauseous. Anyway, there are plenty of those floating around somewhere under some normal-sounding pseudonym. I also was a writer for a couple of adult site as a message board ‘populator.’ Never trust those adult message boards. They are filled with so much nothing. I filled many a message board with all kinds crazy characters in such unbelievable scenarios. Oh my goodness. You have no idea what kind of mental ordeal it is to carry on ‘conversations’ and ‘flirtations’ with up to 30 ‘characters.’ Besides the confusion, coming up with unique and compelling ways of screwing (in all of it’s innumerable varieties) can be exhausting. I’ll spare you the details. You’re welcome.
I also write band bios, press releases and other promotional/marketing material that you can find scattered around the site.
So, if you want a taste of my writing, check this out. Here’s some stuff that I wrote for Crave Magazine a million years ago. Nothing like fresh content…I’ll be adding more of my writings as soon as possible. Again, you’re welcome.
